Incarcerated Obligor
Incarcerated Obligors
The Child Support Directors Association (CSDA) in partnership with the California Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) developed a video and supporting outreach collateral for incarcerated child support obligors informing them of their rights under child support collection laws. This video will be shown at all 33 CDCR correctional facilities, including reception centers. To accompany the video,
a poster (
Spanish poster) and fact sheet (
English/
Spanish) were developed providing supplemental information.
The video and related outreach materials have also been made available to the California local child support agencies to use in outreach to county jails and other local correctional institutions.
The video is available in
English and
Spanish and with open captioning for the hearing impaired.
If you are a Child Support Professional and would like a copy of the video, or have questions about the implementation of this outreach effort, please contact Laura Roth at

What's New
To better serve the recently released incarcerated obligor population, CSDA is laying the groundwork to potentially develop a statewide best practice regarding SLMS releases for this population. A survey was recently submitted to directors to gather information about what the county's practices are. For the
survey results, please click on the following link.
CSDA is also gathering specific information related to outreach activities targeted to this population. Please click on the following link for copies of the
survey results.
